A perfect par for
award-winning author Brad Herzog, P is for Putt: A Golf Alphabet
introduces both novice and seasoned chippers to the equipment,
history, famous courses, and top-notch players. Find out why that
little white ball is covered with dimples, why the spectators are
quiet, who scored a hole in one when he was six, and what famous
golfer won three medals in the 1932 Olympics.
Meander through the alphabet
from A to Z with playful rhymes about golf basics such as I is for iron
shot and N is for a number written on a scorecard. Learn all that is golf
while reading the detailed text in the sidebars that accompany each poem.
Hit the ball and watch it
disappear into the sun.
Holy cow! Hooray!
H is a hole-in-one!

A hole-in-one is scored when a golfer’s first shot goes into the hole.
Also called an ace, it is one of the hardest feats in sports. It is almost
always accomplished on a par 3 hole, although some holes-in-one have
occurred on holes more than 400 yards long! The youngest person ever to
record an ace was just three years old (he did it on a short 65-yard
hole). The oldest was 101!
Realistic illustrations by veteran illustrator Bruce Langton bring vivid
colors, natural settings, and fun to the great game of golf and to those
who “tee it up!”
